I have his sailors hat that he gave to me when he was on R & R and I would love to return it to him or his family. Please, if you know him, get in contact with me. Thank you.

Comments: Just found web site. Looking for any shipmates on board from 1966-1969, 6th div. Left in 69 for river boat duty. Remember a few names, any other names would be great. BM Loren Kjorstad and I were one of the two who painted our hull # on the Bosten the night before she left the harbor in Hong Kong. After they put their # on our ship. Got a few other memories, too.
    Will share. GMG2 Dave Tofte

Comments: Hi, my father, Evan Irving Jenkins, served on Canberra from commissioning to-"45" he was in the engine room during the attack. He passed in 2000. He carried a pic the rest of his life of another crew member that saved his life at that time. I don't know his name, but "THANK YOU" my mom still has the pic. I will try to find the name.

Comments: In today's edition of our local news paper under the heading "Vet's Corner" is the website listed that lists all currently known US Navy ships that were involved in Agent Orange. The website is: www.publichealth/shiplist/list.asp
This question came up several times during the reunion convention in Reno and even so I was not on board during the deployments in the PACIFIC, I thought it might help those who were.

Comments: Please contact your local DAV office for help filing your paperwork. It took two years to be determined eligible, but all funds were retroactive back to the first time filed. Please note that I was denied the first time, but my wife insisted that I not give up. I say the same to each of you, pray and do not give up.
    Bless you

Comments: My dad was Barnard 'Barney' Kelley. I know very little about his time on the Canberra, only that he was on. On his DD214 it is listed 2nd but I am not even sure if that means anything. I do know he was on the USS Arizona until 11/7/41 and then got sick and was sent to the hospital. He missed Pearl Harbor. If anyone out there knows him or has pictures that they would like to share, I am interested in talking to anyone.

Comments: My father, Loren Huhtala, served as an EMI on the U.S.S. Canberra CA70 in 1944-45. He was aboard during the attack. In doing research of his military history for a memory book I am putting together for my son I came across this site. What a great site! My father passed away in 1995. Would love to hear from anyone that may have known him. I also found in my mothers possessions the newspaper clippings of the torpedo attack upon the ship dated 1945. Would love to share with anyone interested. Thanks.. God Bless America

Comments: My stepfather is Leroy Johnson. He served on the USS Canberra from 62-66. Does anyone know if they were exposed to Agent Orange during this time during the same tour and have they made a claim that was accepted by the VA?

I would appreciate any feedback and I will give you my stepdad's (Leroy) phone number if you would care to contact him.

    Thank you,
